3W PA
A new PA has been developed using discrete GaAs FETs. Currently this
design is only available as a ready-made tested unit.

Typical specification:
Small signal gain: 23dB
Power output at 1dB gain compression: 33.7dBm
Power output with 17dBm drive: 35.0dBm
Input VSWR: 1.2:1
Frequency range: 2.3 - 2.45GHz (see notes below)
Operating voltage of the PA itself is +8V (at approx 700mA) and two negative voltages.
For continuous operation the PA needs a heatsink, and holes are provided in the
chassis plate to allow the unit to be bolted to a heatsink. The bandwidth
of the amplifier is approximately 50MHz, so the centre frequency should be
specified at the time of ordering. However, reasonable performance should be
obtained over the whole 13cm band.
Also available is a PSU board which for 12V input provides a stabilised +8V output, and two variable negative voltage outputs. It also has sequencing, so that in the case of failure of the negative supply the drain voltage is shut down, protecting the GaAs FETs in the PA, and avoiding high current pulses on switch-on.

The PA is currently available as a ready built unit with SMA connectors, per the photo, at
75.00 pounds each. The PSU board is available as kit (7.50 pounds) or ready-made (15 pounds). Delivery time normally
3-4 weeks. Shipping cost is included to UK, 5.00 pounds to Europe and 10.00
pounds elsewhere.
